Important Tax Information

February brings the deadline for all property taxes to be paid.  Come March 1st, all delinquent taxes are handed over to Charlevoix County.

You can mail your tax payment to the Township Hall: 9195 Old US 31 N, Charlevoix, MI, 49720.  You can also drop it off during regular Treasurer hours (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9-12).  There is a new secure drop box at the hall in the circle drive—please feel free to put your payment there as well.  We are not currently set up to accept credit card payments, but are looking into that for the future to add another option for our residents.

If you would like a receipt, please enclose a SASE with your payment.  If you forgot to pay your Summer Taxes, you are not alone and it’s not too late—contact me to get your current balance including interest.

My e-mail is treasurer@hayestownshimi.gov, and my work phone is (231)675-5927.

If you misplaced your bill, I am more than happy to mail or e-mail a new one to you, or I can just give you your total—whatever works best for you.

If any information is incorrect on your bill, especially your name or address, please let me know so I can update my records as well as the records kept within the county.

Thursday, February 14th is the last day to pay your Winter Tax bill without penalty.  I will be at the Township Hall during my regular hours that day.  Payments sent through the mail have to be postmarked by February 14th to avoid additional interest charges.

February 28th is the absolute last day to pay your summer or winter property taxes.  I will be in the office from 9am-5pm that day to process any additional payments.

As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have.  I have enjoyed meeting and speaking with many of our residents through the current tax season, and appreciate your positive feedback and helpful information.  I am more than happy to assist the taxpayers of Hayes Township anyway I can.
