Hayes Township Hall will be closed, Monday February 17th 2025 for Presidents’ Day.

ZBA’s responsibilities include: 

• Interpreting the zoning ordinance and map: The ZBA interprets the language of the zoning ordinance and the location of zoning district boundaries. 
• Hearing appeals: The ZBA hears appeals from administrative officials and decisions made by other administrative bodies. 
• Granting variances: The ZBA grants variances from the strict application of the zoning code. 

Each community in Michigan that has a zoning ordinance must establish a ZBA.  The ZBA may also appoint up to two alternates to serve in the event of a conflict of interest or absence.
